The older E63/E64 M6 runs the same S85 V10 found in the E60 M5, and it carries the same reputation: the rod bearings are sensitive to missed oil-change intervals, and the ten individual electronic throttle actuators fail one by one as the car ages, which is a slow, expensive death by a thousand cuts rather than one big repair. Ask for documented oil-change history before you trust that engine. The newer F06/F12/F13 M6 switched to the twin-turbo S63 V8, where the plastic timing chain guides wear and can shed debris into the oil on a neglected car, and carbon buildup from direct injection needs periodic walnut-blasting to keep the intake valves clean. Either generation is a heavy grand tourer built on a stiff chassis, so a hard front hit is worth checking for subframe damage beyond what the photos show. Non-repairable M6 lots still move for the drivetrain and interior once the shell is too far gone.
