The 128i was the entry point into BMW's first-generation 1 Series, sold here as a coupe or a soft-top convertible – the turbocharged 135i shared the same shell with a bigger engine underneath. Front End is the most common damage at 45%. Across the make a recent BMW sold for a median winning bid near $2,500 before fees, most between $1,200 and $6,200, and a straight, mechanically sound 128i tends to land in the lower-middle of that band since it's an older, smaller car. Most stay in the US, picked up locally or shipped in-country.
Skip the turbo entirely on a 128i – it runs a naturally aspirated inline-six, either the smaller N51 or the 3.0-liter N52, so there's no turbo plumbing or boost-related failures to chase. What does wear on cars this age is the same plastic hardware BMW used across the whole lineup at the time: the electric water pump and thermostat housing crack, and the valve cover gasket seeps oil onto the exhaust manifold, which is easy to smell before you see it. Because it's a smaller, lighter rear-wheel-drive coupe, a straight one is genuinely fun and cheap to run once you sort those wear items – parts interchange with the contemporary 3 Series, so sourcing isn't hard. On the convertible, check that the fabric top's motors cycle cleanly before you bid, since replacement tops aren't cheap.
Buying is quick: register free – no dealer license – set a maximum bid and the system bids up to that cap for you, or take a lot at its Buy Now price. Win it, pay the invoice plus fees, then pick up, ship or export.
Note: ACV and damage data come from the original auction listing. Always check the condition and title yourself before you bid.
