The 318i was BMW's entry point into the 3 Series for most of its run, built with a four-cylinder in place of the six that powered the rest of the badge, spanning the boxy E30 into the rounder E36. Rear End leads the damage board at 100%. Across the make a recent BMW sold for a median winning bid near $2,500 before fees, most between $1,200 and $6,200; the four-cylinder cars tend to price toward the lower end of that range. Most stay in the US, picked up locally or shipped in-country.

Every 318i, regardless of generation, uses a timing belt rather than a chain to drive the camshafts, and that's the single most important thing to confirm before you bid. A belt that's overdue or has no service record isn't a maintenance item you can put off – if it snaps, the pistons and valves can meet inside the cylinder head, turning a cheap engine into scrap. Ask for the replacement interval and mileage, and treat "unknown" as a belt that needs doing on day one. Beyond that, these are simple, lightly stressed engines by BMW standards, with few of the turbo or VANOS-specific issues that show up on the six-cylinder cars. Structurally it's the same unibody platform as the rest of the E30 or E36 range, so a hard front hit reaching the strut towers is still a total-loss candidate rather than a repair.

Buying is quick: register free – no dealer license – set a maximum bid and the system bids for you up to that cap, or take a lot at its Buy Now price. Win it, pay the invoice plus fees, then pick up, ship or export.

Note: ACV and damage data come from the original auction listing. Always check the condition and title yourself before you bid.
