A Fusion isn't a truck, so forget the frame – it's a unibody, and a hard front hit can push damage back into the rails and strut towers that a thumbnail won't show. The base 2.5 is the simplest rebuild; the 1.5 and 2.0 EcoBoost add a turbo and a timing chain to price in, and the Sport packs a 2.7 twin-turbo with AWD if you want the quick one. Watch the Hybrid and Energi plug-in versions – the high-voltage battery sits low, and a flood or a hard rear hit can total the pack, which wipes out any deal. Water is the real killer on these anyway: the car sits low, and a flooded interior ruins the electronics for good. If you just want an engine or a clean shell, the "blown motor" and non-repairable Fusion lots go cheap for swaps and parts.
