The Thunderbird is a low-volume lot in Ford's auction pool – it comes through in ones and twos, not by the hundred, and over the last two years only a handful of salvage or repairable Thunderbirds actually sold here, so there's no reliable median to quote. What price it does bring depends almost entirely on which one you're looking at. It's a personal-luxury and, in a couple of eras, a two-seat sports car, and the same badge covers everything from a 1955 classic to a 2005 retro convertible. That spread is the whole story, so read the year and trim before the damage line. You'll also want to check the broader Ford Thunderbird listings, since supply is thin enough that the right car doesn't turn up every week.

Generation decides the math. The 1955–66 classics are body-on-frame and worth the most, but rust is the real killer – floors, trunk pans, cowl and rear quarters rot from the inside, and a car that looks straight in photos can be structurally gone underneath, so a salvage brand there is almost a footnote next to the tin-worm. The 1989–95 SuperCoupe is the enthusiast pick: a supercharged 3.8 V6 with an Eaton blower up top, and the things to price are the supercharger coupler and bearings, plus the 3.8's habit of eating head gaskets. The 2002–05 retro is a different animal, a two-seat convertible on the Lincoln LS platform with a 3.9 V8 – low production, collector interest, and prices that stay firm, so a wrecked one is worth chasing if the unibody and the top mechanism check out. Parts-only and "blown motor" cars have their place for a numbers-matching restore, but on a car this age a tired drivetrain plus hidden rust is usually where the project dies.

Buying is quick: register free – no dealer license – set a maximum bid and the system bids for you up to that cap, or take a car at its Buy Now price. Win it, pay the invoice plus fees, then pick up, ship or export.

Note: ACV and damage data come from the original auction listing. Always check the condition and title yourself before you bid.
