The Leaf has been Nissan's electric hatchback since 2011, and only a small number trade here in a given stretch — too few to set a model price. Across the make a recent Nissan sold for a median winning bid near $1,750 before fees, but a Leaf doesn't track that number the normal way: two cars with identical mileage and identical collision damage can be worth very different money depending on what's left in the battery. Fire and biohazard-flagged lots need extra caution on any EV, since a damaged high-voltage pack isn't something to inspect casually. Most stay in the US, picked up locally or shipped in-country.
Battery degradation is the single biggest factor on a used Leaf, and it has nothing to do with the collision damage in the listing. Early cars (2011–2017) used a battery with no active cooling, and pack capacity loss shows up faster in hot climates and on cars that fast-charged often — some lost several capacity bars within a few years, which is why Nissan extended coverage for excessive capacity loss on those model years. The dash has a capacity gauge, and a scan tool that reads Leaf-specific data can pull the exact state-of-health percentage before you bid, so treat that number the way you'd treat an odometer on a gas car. The 2018-and-newer second generation moved to a bigger, more temperature-tolerant pack and added CHAdeMO fast-charging as standard, so degradation runs slower on those. Mechanically there's no engine or transmission to worry about — just a single reduction gear — but any car with underbody or flood damage needs the high-voltage pack inspected by someone who knows EVs before it goes anywhere near a garage. When the pack or the shell is too far gone, non-repairable Leaf lots still move for the motor and the wiring, plus whatever interior trim survived.

Is a salvage Leaf worth buying?
