The Crown Majesta was Toyota's flagship sedan in its home market, a longer-wheelbase, more heavily optioned sibling to the regular Crown that Toyota never sold new in the US. Every lot here arrived as a private import, and federal rules only let a foreign-market car in once it turns 25 years old, so what's available skews toward the earliest 1990s generation rather than anything current. The buyers here are import specialists and JDM luxury-sedan collectors who already understand the paperwork, and almost everything that sells stays with US owners once it lands.

Engine choice tracks the generation and Japan's displacement-based road tax, so check which one a given lot actually carries. The earliest cars ran the 1UZ-FE V8 – the same engine family used in the early Lexus LS and Celsior – while some mid-generation Majestas switched to a smaller V6 to land in a cheaper tax bracket, and later flagship trims returned to a V8 again. None of that shows up clearly in a damage photo, so confirm the engine code against the VIN plate before you assume you're getting the V8. Later cars added air suspension and early adaptive-damping electronics, both expensive to source once something fails, since parts mostly move through specialty importers rather than a regular Toyota counter. As with any private import, the real risk usually isn't the drivetrain – it's a lot that shows up with incomplete customs paperwork and no clear path to a US title.
