Repairable, Salvage and Damaged Porsche 718 Boxster for Sale

The 718 Boxster is the newest roadster in Porsche's mid-engine lineup, and it's rare enough here that no sale closed in the last two years. These cars are still young, and buyers hold onto them, so wrecks simply haven't built up in volume yet. Across the make a recent Porsche sold for a median winning bid around $7,050 before fees, and a damaged 718 Boxster tends to clear well past that, since demand for a recent Porsche roadster outpaces the handful that turn up wrecked. Porsche switched this generation to a turbocharged flat-four in 2017, trading the older naturally aspirated flat-six for a smaller engine with more low-end pull. That motor, in 2.0 and 2.5-liter form, sidesteps the intermediate-shaft bearing issue that plagued earlier water-cooled Porsches entirely — it's a different architecture that came along after Porsche fixed that problem for good. From 2020 the GTS 4.0 and Spyder brought a naturally aspirated flat-six back into the lineup, and those command a real premium even wrecked. The soft top on this generation is more reliable than the ones on older Boxsters, but it's still worth cycling before you bid, since a motor or cable failure isn't cheap to chase down. Being mid-engined, a rear hit reaches the drivetrain directly, so weigh rear damage the way you'd weigh a front hit on a front-engine car. If the shell's beyond saving, the non-repairable pool still pays for a drivetrain that holds value on its own.
