Introduced in 1989 as a subdivision of General Motors’ Chevrolet division, Geo models were introduced to combat the small import influx into the market that occurred in the 1980s. Ultimately, Chevrolet discontinued the marque in 1997, but models from the make did persist under different monikers until 2004.
